With about 4.2 billion forints from the state, high main road no. way 52 in Kecskemét will be expanded to a four-lane-road, and certain wide sections of the road will be renovated and modernized; the investment is carried out by Hazai Építőgép Társulás Zrt. on behalf of the National Infrastructure Zrt. (NIF).
According to NIF, in the first phase of the development, the section between main road no. 52 and main road no. 5 Vízmű street will be renewed. The aim of the project is to reduce the travel time between the city center and M5 motorway, to alleviate congestion on the road section and to increase the throughput capacity of junctions and make them safer. In the residential area of Kecskemét on main road no. 52, in addition to the lane extension sections, a bicycle path of almost two kilometers will be built, and two turbo roundabouts will be built at Olimpia street and Sport street.
The bus stop in front of Katona József Grammar School, as well as the pedestrian crossing with traffic lights on Boldogasssony square, will be relocated. During the modernization of the Vízmű street traffic light intersection, an additional turning lane will be created in Vízmű street and on both branches touching Izsáki street.
There will also be temporary traffic restrictions during the works, expected until the spring of 2024. The announcement also informs that from 11 p.m. on August 10th, the demolition works will take place on main road no. 52 in front of Dózsa György road 9. The road will be closed for approximately 15-20 minutes.
